The HTC 8S is a solid handset. It’s got an attractive and distinctive style. HTC 8S comes in an understated two-tone chassis with a rubberised polycarbonate finish. At 10.3mm thick it is far from the thinnest smartphone around. It’s small and light standing just 120mm tall and weighting in at a feather light 113g, but more importantly it looks quite different to most other smart phones on the market thanks to the bold range of colours it’s available in. It’s also surprisingly slick and fast for a mid range phone.

5. Nokia Lumia 620

Nokia Lumia 620 could become an attractive option at the budget end of the market. Nokia Lumia 620 has a nice 3.8-inch display with a 800×480 pixel resolution (WVGA). Above the screen there’s the earpiece in the centre, the front-facing 0.3 megapixel camera to the left of it and the Nokia logo to the right.
