Command prompt, officially called Windows Command Processor is a command-line interpreter application which is very useful tool for the developers to quickly execute applications and commands.
Windows 8 has two modes – the new Metro mode and the old traditional Windows mode.
Launch or Open command prompt in Windows 8 – new Metro mode:
Hit “WIN+Q” key from the keyboard to launch the “Apps search bar” and then type “cmd”. You will see Command Prompt in the results. Click it to launch a Windows command prompt.
Open command prompt by starting(double click) the cmd.exe in the windows system32 folder:
Open Windows Explorer. Navigate to the folder C:WindowsSystem32 and look for the application cmd.exe and double click on it.
Launch or Open command prompt in Windows 8 – traditional mode:
Hit “WIN+X” and select “Run”. Now type “cmd” in Run dialog search text box and click OK.
